Proper Care of Freshwater and Saltwater Fish Aquariums

If you're thinking about buying fish and a fish tank, there are some extremely important facts and information you should consider thinking about beforehand. Many people buy fish and put them into any fish tank filled with water and call it home to the fish.

The main reason why fish die so fast when you buy them is not because you got a sick fish at a pet store, but it is because you haven't done enough research on the type of environment the fish is use to living in and the proper food the fish needs to maintain a healthy diet. Another reason why fish don't last long is because you never check the condition of the water in the aquarium before placing your fish inside the tank. You always have to check the temperature of the water in the fish tank and the condition of the water to look for any chemical or bacterial imbalance the water may have. If the condition of the fish tanks water needs to be adjusted than adjusted so it's suitable for the fish to live in and survive.

The first thing you should do before buying any type of fish is to do research on the fish you will want to get and the environment your fish lives in because you do not want to get fish and just throw them inside a tank and call it home. You can find information about the type of fish you want to get and the environment the fish is used to living in is online, in a library, a book store, or a pet store. Once you have done research on the type of fish you want to get, I would then recommend buying a fish aquarium and place all the proper materials that need to go into the fish tank like, sand or rocks, plants, water, food, the right amount of chemicals, filters, and all the items the fish will need to have to survive and make the fish feel like the fish is at home. I would also say its better to run the tank without any fish in it a week before you actually get the fish and test the condition of tanks water each day until it's the right condition for the particular fish you are going to get. Once your tank condition is just right for your fish, then you can go by you fish and place them into the tank to enjoy a happy long life.

Now if you don't know anything about fish tanks I will give you some basic information on some varieties of fish tanks such as a salt water tank and fresh water tank. I will also tell you some of the best fish to place in these kinds of aquariums and some of the basic care you will need to do.

The first aquarium I am going to talk about is a salt water fish aquarium. Now a salt water aquarium is much harder to set up and take care of then a fresh water fish tank because of the special condition the water has to be and the plants that need to go into it. You can't just toss in table salt into the tanks water either. You have to buy salt water mix kit to prepare the proper salt water for your salt water fish. You will need live reefs so the fish can have a natural and live environment and live crushed rock that looks like sand to place at the bottom of the tank as well. Other things you will need to run a salt water fish tank are, thermometers, filters, saltwater hydrometers, a fish tank heater, a fish aquarium light, and any other things a pet store recommends putting into the salt water aquarium. Once you get all the proper materials for the tank you can start putting together and then allow the salt water aquarium for about seven weeks to get the water and aquarium condition just right for the fish. This means you have to test the water every day and adjust the chemicals and temperature to the proper place there suppose to be at. Once the condition of your salt water tank are good you can then go pick out some salt water fish such as, angel fish, clown fish, and butterfly fish. To learn more about salt water tanks I would recommend you check out this link, .

The second type of aquarium I am going to tell you about is a fresh water fish aquarium. Fresh water aquarium and fish are still a bit easier to take care of, however it does require a bit of work. In a fresh water aquarium you need a heater, filters, gravel, tap water, test strips, a thermometer, and whatever else the pet store recommends for the tank. You will also need to run the tank with all the materials in it for seven weeks until the water conditions of the tank are just right to put the fresh water fish into it. Again you will have to test the water every day and adjust the water conditions if need be until you get the water conditions just right. As soon as the water conditions are right you can go get your fresh water fish and place them in your tank. The best kinds of fresh water fish to put into a fresh water tank are beta, gourami, and tetras. For more information on fresh water tanks checkout this link, .

Now you have some information on different kind of tanks and fish. You also have some information on what to do before getting a fish aquarium and fish as pets. You should have some idea that it is best to research and prepare the proper tank condition for a fish before bring fish home.
