Acrylic Aquarium
An acrylic aquarium offers many advantages over the traditional glass aquarium.
One of the disadvantages to a acrylic aquarium is that the acrylic can be scratched easily if the wrong cleaning materials are used. Always use the correct cleaning product and supplies. Common household products that you use for everyday such as glass cleaners can in some cases do more harm than good. Accidents do happens and it is possible to damaged the acrylic if certain materials such as a rock from the aquarium is dropped or rubbed against it. In some cases if the scratch or pitting is not to deep a polish and scratch remover product designed specifically for acrylic should fix the problem.
A acrylic aquarium is no different than any other type of aquarium and must be cleaned on a regular basis. One of the best ways to keep your aquarium looking and smelling good is to maintain the correct water temperature. Maintaining the proper water PH for the type of fish in your aquarium is also vitally important. Make sure that the water is circulating and check the equipment such as the filter and clean it if needed. check for dead or sick fish daily and remove them immediately when discovered. Every other week waste products should be removed form the tank. This can be accomplished with a suction or siphon tube which can be purchased from a store that sells aquariums, fish and other related products. About every six weeks some fresh water should be added to the tank. About one third of the water should be removed and fresh water added.
