How Do Algae Form in Fish Tanks
Where do the green algae come from that forms in fish tanks?
Algae are actually a plant matter, and are one of the simplest forms of matter on the planet. This plan can grow nearly anywhere that there is actually a good supply of moisture and water and sunlight or some other type of energy source like the light from your aquarium. It is a very resilient micro organism it can withstand frigid temperatures such as snow and also can almost withstand boiling temperatures. They can grow in high acidic areas, also in the great pressures of the mountains and in the oceans and it even show up in places where we think nothing could survive. And usually nothing else does survive that.
Why does it grow in such different locations? Despite all these poor growing conditions, algae were one of the first life forms to appear on her and are still plentiful in this day and age.
What happens with algae; is that if it enter enters into an environment that it does not do well in it will turn dormant. Then when conditions are good for growth again it will once again become fruitful and multiply and grow. Another thing it may do is once it does get dry then it becomes a dust particle and becomes airborne like dust in its dormant state. It can then travel finding the right medium and exploded into growth again.
Your aquarium will act as the perfect environment for algae to become abundant. You keep it at a perfect temperature steadily and there are very few fluctuations in the environment so it does stay pretty consistent. This is the perfect breeding ground for algae. All it needs is plenty of light, and the filter running constantly with bubbles in the aeration that helps even more.
The light of your aquarium will produce enough light to encourage algae growth. But sunlight is the best source of energy for that. The pigmentation it is caused by chlorophyll in the plant, which causes it to turn green. This is what converts carbon dioxide in light into oxygen and energy. So you're highly aerated tank and the constant temperature and light make it a perfect place for growth of algae.
As your tank ages it is understandable that suddenly some algae will appear covering the walls and everything else inside. This is because the algae were dormant for time and now is decided to grow because the conditions have warranted. It may appear to grow from nothing but that is just its appearances. It has been growing for hundreds of thousands of millions of years and there's a likelihood that this is not going to change anytime soon.
