Best Los Angeles Beaches
With sunny days and gentle breezes, Los Angeles County has some picturesque beaches. The picks have clean sand, lots of facilities and nearby activities. Here are five of my favorite beaches in Los Angeles County.
Paradise Cove

This is a private beach in Malibu. Quiet and peaceful, it's a great beach to walk down during sunset hours. There's a nice pier to walk down and many quaint beach houses that you can dream about living in. If you want to get some good food, go into the Paradise Cove Restaurant. Parking is $25 but it gets validated when you go to the restaurant. You can relax on the sand on the outside chairs and take in the scenery. I like going here during the week and later in the evening. It's quiet and private. The only thing is that there aren't any dogs or surfboards allowed.
Santa Monica Beach

This is a giant stretch of white beach. Go swimming, biking , surfing or play volleyball. Restrictions include no dogs, alcohol, smoking or glass containers. See other guidelines here. One of the attractions of this beach is the Santa Monica pier that has all sorts of fun rides, food and games. This beach is fun and warm year round. Take the steps up to Palisades Park or walk a few blocks for fun shopping and dining at Third Street Promenade.
Zuma

This northern Malibu beach boasts white sand and clean water. Go swimming, surfing or fishing here. It's a good beach for boogie boarding. You can pay to park or park on the road. Go in the winter and you might even see a whale. Since this beach in at the northern end of Los Angeles, the water is slightly colder.
Manhattan Beach
Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
There are lots of beach volleyball nets set up and a nice concrete boardwalk to walk around. You might even catch a volleyball tournament while you are there. I love the hilly surrounding town with all of its shops and restaurants. Manhattan Beach is about three miles south of the Los Angeles Airport. For directions, click here.
Leo Carrillo State Beach

This is a fun beach for kids. It has tidepools and swimming areas. Additionally you can go surfing, windsurfing or surf fishing. This beach also has camping. You can make online reservations. For a family, a developed site is $15 to $35 and a undeveloped site is $9-$25. Go here after labor day or in the spring when it is still warm but less crowded. There's also a cave and leashed dogs are allowed on some parts of the beach.
